Bloc Party’s new single, Mercury. To be included on their 3rd album, possibly due out before the end of this year. Pretty quirky, and a departure from previous albums, though less so from Flux.
I’m not quite sure it belongs as the prelude to a listing of the craziest songs of all time though; it’s different for them, but still well within the indie-electronica spectrum that’s been so popular this year. Nor do I think Kate Bush deserves the title of ‘oddest chart topper’, but any excuse to link to Napoleon XIV’s They’re Coming to Take Me Away is welcome.
